His House (2020) ☆☆☆(3/4): A refugee couple under insidious influence

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019) ☆☆☆(3/4): Stories that hurt
“Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” is a little creepy horror flick which serves us a number of good scary moments within our expectation. As a sort of hybrid between “Final Destination” (2000) and “Goosebumps” (2015), the movie does … Continue reading

The Conjuring (2013) ☆☆1/2(2.5/4) : A usual business in the ominous haunted house
Maybe I am too jaded as a seasoned audience and amateur critic, but I could not help but be sarcastic about the prologue of “The Conjuring”, which kindly emphasizes to us that everything depicted in the movie is based on … Continue reading
Mama (2013) ☆☆☆(3/4) : It’s a tough supernatural custody battle
“Mama” is a little scary horror movie ready to scare you and then shock you from the very beginning, and it does its job well even when we can instantly see through its shock and awe tactics. There are many … Continue reading
Sinister (2012) ☆☆☆(3/4) : It eventually becomes sinister….
“Sinister” goes through a familiar route we have encountered from countless horror films about houses of ill omen. As a matter of fact, it is quite predictable at times, so I knew what would happen next as soon as it … Continue reading

The Neighbors (2012) ☆☆1/2(2.5) : They have a killer in their building
There are interesting pieces here and there in South Korean thriller movie “The Neighbours”, but the result is an uneven combination which does not fully utilize the potential in its components. This is a well-made thriller with good atmosphere and … Continue reading
