Wreck-It Ralph (2012) ☆☆☆(3/4) : He wants to be a good guy this time
Disney’s new digital animation film “Wreck-It Ralph” reaches to my nostalgia with a handful of video games I played during my childhood and adolescent years. I had little interest on playing video games unlike my schoolmates, but I was drawn … Continue reading
Rise of the Guardians (2012) ☆☆☆(3/4) : A nice gift set for the Holiday season
We have “The Avengers” early in this year, and now we have “Rise of the Guardians” around the end of this year. Like various superhero characters were assembled to save the mankind in the former, the various Guardians of Childhood … Continue reading
Frankenweenie (2012) ☆☆☆(3/4) : He’s alive!
Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” is a dark, moody, and innocent animation inspired by old classic horror films such as “Frankenstein”(1931). True to its source of inspiration, it is a black-and-white stop motion animation decorated with quirky imagination and morbid but sweet … Continue reading
Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted (2012) ☆☆☆(3/4) : Their colorful Europe adventure with circus
“Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” is a fast and funny animation which is also the most enjoyable one in the series. The series is a curious case considering its progress; “Madagascar”(2005) was a mild disappointment with some amusement, and “Madagascar: … Continue reading
A Cat in Paris (2010) ☆☆☆(3/4) : One charming night adventure in Paris
“A Cat in Paris” is an enjoyable lightweight animation – and I had a good time with this breezy entertainment. Though it is pretty short(the running time is less than 70 minutes), but that is enough for its simple adventure … Continue reading
Puss in Boots (2011) ☆☆☆(3/4) : Two cats and one egg
When “Shrek Forever After” was released in 2010, it was advertised as the last installment of the series, but, in the age of countless sequels, we all knew that was far from being true. As a matter of fact, because … Continue reading

The Adventures of Tintin(2011) ☆☆☆(3/4) : It’s an exhilarating test drive with old-fashioned charm
It is easy to criticize that “The Adventures of Tintin”, the first animation feature directed by Steven Spielberg, is more or less than a test drive for him – but this is an exhilarating one for us. With spirited handling … Continue reading
The Illusionist (2010) ☆☆☆1/2(3.5/4) : A magician, a girl, and bittersweet melancholy
Sylvain Chomet’s new animation “The Illusionist” deals with the gloomy subjects rarely told in the blockbuster animations. It is about the decay of one era, the desperation behind that, and the sorrowful acceptance and resignation in the end. The time … Continue reading
Toy Story 3 (2010) ☆☆☆ (3/4) : A dreaded moment has finally come for them
“Toy Story 3” has nostalgic quality to me. Come to think of it, I virtually grew up with these two wonderful animations. When I was about to become a teenager, “Toy Story”(1995) was released and I was fascinated by the new kind of animation as a young moviegoer(Ah, I love those days when I could watch the movie as many times as I wanted). When I was about to go to the university, “Toy Story 2” (1999) arrived in a local theater in my town and I was delighted to meet these loveable characters I came to like.
